Does anyone have any experience with them? A week ago I got listed on them. I noticed that the review just ranks me as average. That's fine with me, but I tried to get some more customers to rank me (in hopes of getting a better score) I've had 2 tell me that they ranked me Monday. It is now Friday and there is still only one review and ranking. I trust these customers enough to believe that they did rank me. These customers are some of my longest customers.

Is it  typical of webhostingunleashed to only put up one ranking and then forget about any more? Is this because I don't pay for ads that I don't get proper attention? Anyone else have any experience with them?

I've even put a link back to webhostingunleashed on my site and requested all my customers rank me.

I have contacted them and I am hoping for an explanation or an update.

What I know about webhostingunleashed.com is that they used to rank #1 for "web hosting reviews" in Google and that at some point in time they claimed to earn some $8000 per month from their site.

But I have no idea how their system works, if they publish all the reviews they receive etc. It might very well be that they only update the site at regular intervals, like they collect reviews 24/7 but verifiy and publish them just one or twice per week.

Maybe you can let us know what they respond? I'm genuinely interested to know what they say. Smiley

It's going on 5 days (if i did my math right) I'd think they would make more of an attempt to update regularly.

I'm looking for a place where my customers can review and rank me honestly. If they have something bad to say I'll consider as a suggestion on something to improve on. I can't seem to find a good place for reviews that actually get high levels of traffic. I am planning on doing some advertising and I want to be able to refer potential customers to some reviews. I have a place on my forums for this, but I don't want to be accused of being in control of them.

I also have the problem of actually getting customers to sit down and take 5 minutes to post a review/rating. Any ideas on how to do this without bribing them or making them feel they have to say only good things?

They now have 2 reviews for me. I contacted the newest one and he did the review this morning after I posted this thread. The other's apparently are missing and I have yet to have a response from them regarding this matter.

I'm afraid you won't find that "one" place where to focus your entire energy on. Find as many "hosting reviews sites" as possible, and list your company in all of them.

Most hosting forums won't allow you to send customers their way to write a review about you, so I would't try that, or rather I might try it, but only after carefully reviewing the rules of each forum.

Yes, reviews/testimonials that are one way or another under your control/potential censoring don't weight as much in the eyes of potential customers. However, they can still be quite effective, and there's no reason to not collect and publish them.

You can try suggesting this in the signature you use when you're providing support. This can have its drawbacks though, as customers might hurry to write a review too early, before you actually show them what you're capable of, and the grades you'd get would be not so favourable. After all, customers contact you when they have a problem, so they're not 100% happy.

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply, just found this thread, I see it was posted on Dec 9th 2005, I actually just took over the site from the old owner about 1.5 months ago. He was having some health issues and was keeping it up.

That being said, we are about to relaunch it with a totally new backend, new design, and a lot of really cool features. I spent the last month manually editing all the hosts and reviews to clean up the data and make sure the reviews in the system were real as best I could and not left by the host. All further reviews are checked by me, I talk to the person via email to confirm, check their whois.sc, check their site to see if they are connected to the host, check IP of past submissions, and a few other tricks, we also do certifiedhostingreviews.com so i know a few tricks Smiley. My review policy is I make sure the review is fair to both the host and consumer, meaning if a person is yelling at a host for mysql problems when they are running a 3000 a day proxy site is not the hosts fault, etc, let me know if you have any qs about that..

Shoot me an email but in about 48 hours the new version will be up with the improved setup. Or if you have any questions etc etc etc, I'm always around even if a bit backed up on email, you will always get a resposne within a few days Smiley

btw, I also run resellerguide.com

sorry if this is a ramble, been up to 6am working to get it launched this last week and really tired, heading to sleep shortly.

Thanks! We are launching it just with the most basic stuff articles, news, guides, new design, search to find hosts, and then in the next few weeks we will add stuff like sort reviews by how long the person had used the host when leaving the review, a lot of other options etc.

And in a few months we will have a big comparison engine built in, right now we are just testing it but basically it will let you find a host by different tags, so if you are looking for hosts with ruby on rails and shell you could tag both those things and search. That will take a little time as I have to add a lot and lot of data.

If you want a preview just shoot me an email Smiley
