Signed up about 2 months ago via the web - everything is automated and easy to use and understand, and they have a live chat for technical support, who assured me that their system uptime was over 99%.

Unfortunately, this did not prove to be the case - in less than 8 weeks, I found my website down 8 times and contacted technical support in each case.  I'm only a part time blogger - so I'm rarely attending to the website, which makes me wonder how many times it was down that I wasn't aware of in addition to these.

The first time I called in there was a service issue - the technician wasn't sure how to fix it, so he "reset the services" and everything worked properly.  He had no idea what the problem was.

Next, there were hardware issues.  Understandable - we have all had to deal with those.

When it went down again this morning and I contacted technical support, this was the unedited response that I received in my chat session:

You are now speaking with Global2000Hosting of Sales.

Global2000Hosting: Nikki, there are no issues with your account your website is working fine

Global2000Hosting: this was just verified by the tech who you spoke with on the telephone

nikki: it's working fine NOW - but it has been down for about 10 minutes, as has yours, as has cameron's

Global2000Hosting: Miss

Global2000Hosting: I just conversed about this account with management

Global2000Hosting: and its terminated as of now

Global2000Hosting: have a nice day

Your party has left this session.

This is their interpretation of customer service and technical support.  In fact, multiple people couldn't reach the web site this morning (which miraculously began to work again after I'd called in, despite the fact that I was told it was never down).

It's a CHEAP web host, and if you don't need the stability of knowing that your web site and email are going to be functional - they might be a good web host for you.

But if, like me, you rely on email for your business and personal communication, I would highly recommend choosing another hosting company.

Please note that terminating an account is fully within the rights of virtually any web host without cause or justification - but the refusal to provide my files and blogs was just downright mean.
(Serves me right for getting lazy in my backups, I suppose)

It is only fair for fellow members to know even more about this incident: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=470915&highlight=Global2000Hosting

Personally I don't agree with their decision to terminate your friend's account. Other than that, it looks to me like there were are irreconcilable differences of... "opinion" between you and your host and you're both better off to go your separate ways. It would have been nice of them to let you "pack your bags to find a new home" though.

Better luck with your next host!
