I am bugged by the fact that winter is the way it is this winter. It started well and now... I didn't grow up in the US so I don't know from personal experience how winters used to be, but from what I heard they were kind of the same way they were in the country I grew up. Anyway, what has happened to the "mountains of snow" that made my life as a child a true joy?

You would expect that in Michigan things wouldn't be like this, but they are. We merely had a bit of snow few days ago, but that was it, now only cold weather. I guess the cold weather is enough of a sign of winter, but what happened 2 weeks ago when it was more sunny than it is during spring? Is the US the only region affected by this "desease"?

I'm disappointed... I want more snow!! Smiley

Hehehe! Rest assured, there's no more snow where you grew up. Wink

Maybe we have a bad recollection of the winter as it was when we were children? Maybe we enjoyed so much the short time while we had snow that it seemed like the whole winter was snowy. Though I kind of doubt it. The way I recollect it, it used to snow quite heavily at least 2 or 3 times during a winter. After the snow came the cold, and the snow was preserved for weeks. Maybe that's the problem: snow preservation?!  Huh?

I know, I have thought about that too, but I didn't use only my memories, I used adults memories as well. And here in the US people say the same thing, it used to be more snow in the 70s or 80s. That confirmed that it was not my small height at that time or, as you said, the mind of a child, it was in fact more snow.

What you suggested as a problem, is in fact what probably makes me feel that things are worse now. It snowed Friday night, and then is was so sunny and warm Saturday that almost all the snow melted. And when I think that I've been told this was supposed to be one of the worst winters in the past couple of years... Smiley

I didn't get to build the snowman I wanted to build this year, this is my main problem. Smiley Will I get the chance to do it, only time can tell. I'll keep you posted. Wink

We had a small window of opportunity to build a snowman here, but failed to seize it. It wasn't on the priorities list I guess. Tongue

It is here... -18 degrees Celsius isn't something we experience often.
