Years ago when I first decided to get a couple of domains I used NetworkSolutions.  They were a name I was familiar with, and while more expensive then some of the other options at the time, I felt more comfortable sticking with "a big name".  Besides for the two domains I was registering the difference in pricing didn't bother me too much.  Their control panel is fairly straight forward, easy enough for a greenhorn to figure out in any case.  I never, ever had any issues with NetworkSolutions, the only reason I left (well, I still have one domain there) was money, they are quite expensive.  That really is the only negative, if NetworkSolutions was more price competitive I'd still be there.  A 1 year dotcom registration is $34.99 with NetworkSolutions, there are many reputable registrars charging under $10.  I couldn't justify spending over three times the "going" rate to stay with NetworkSolutions.
Some of my clients (I'm a network engineer) continue to use NetworkSolutions simply because they are "the big name".  That $20+ difference is just a miniscule drop in the IT budget and no one wants to risk betting their job on a "no name".  Much the same as they aren't going to stick a white-box server on the network, they'll stick with IBM or HP regardless of the price difference.
So in short, if money doesn't matter NetworkSolutions is great, if you're watching the budget (like me) pick one of the other registrars that provide the same quality for a lot less.

They're still charging $35 for a domain? I was under the impression that they lowered that price to something like $20. I suppose I made a confusion with Register.com

You make the choice so simple! Smiley

EDIT: After checking things, it look like I was wrong on both assumptions: both Register.com and NetworkSolutions charge $35 for a one year registration of .com domains. Discounts are available for longer period registrations.

Yes Networksolutions I feel is too exspensive!
PLUS they try and trick domain owners by sending emails out to random people saying your domain is about to expire, renew now...

These domains were not originally registered by Networksolutions.
I know it is open season on who to renew with.. but some people do get tricked.

Anyways just my 2 cents Smiley

They have a special now, it's one of the cheapest places to register a domain name now.

Network Solutions?  Haven't they been accused of domain ransom recently?

NSI was the first registrar I used!!! I paid 30 dollars a year to register a 3 letter domain. It was well worth the investment but now NSI stand no chance against the other registrars unless they lower there prices.
