Hi Everyone!
Found this forum from WHT (like most here I'ld say), then lurked around for a bit and then thot 'might as well join'

A bit about myself, I'm a scientist working for a multinational company (at the moment anyway). Got into the whole internet thing May last year and discovered the vast amount of info available and the potential you have literally in the palm of your hands (or fingers Roll Eyes )Anyway got a couple of websites going now and doing quite well. One is a family forum which is closed to the public (no point giving the address), but since I got a large extended family, is doing pretty well. The other is an Article Directory: http://www.bylamoarticles.com. This is one of my proud achievements and it's doing pretty well. And the main thing is it's growing almost everyday. If you visit, please sign my guestbook before you leave- I only just installed it yesterday so....

(I got others sites as well but they now fairly abandoned but I'll revisit them when I'm less busy)

Anyway my latest project is my webhosting company I got now: Hostlings.net and my second proud achievement. It's been an uphill struggle getting it where it is now and I don't care what anyone says, reselling is not easy. You have to deal with so many other companies/individuals some of which try to rip you off at every turn. I had so much trouble with a particular web designer that it was only when I thretened to come over to India where he was to rip his b*** out that he returned my cash for a job not done at all.
Anyway Hostlings.net has launched now, currently writing a PR for it hopefully for a weekend release. I have a couple of signups already. Well friends actually so don't really count, but anyway I'm still waiting for my first official/real/actual customer Smiley

Hi there! Welcome to WHRForums! Smiley

You seem to be quite busy. Is there anymore time left for science in your schedule? Smiley

Well, take good care of them and they will eventually do the right thing and recommend you to their friends when a discussion about hosting arrives.

Looks like an expensive web design job, if it was potentially worth it to go all the way to India. Smiley

PS. I took the liberty to edit your signature. It was within the rules, but HTML doesn't work in signatures, so its formatting wasn't the one you intended.

Another thing you could help me do is remove the email link in my posts.  Smiley
Been trying but doesn't seem to work.

Haha You know what? When I'm at work, I'll usually have a couple of experiments running and set a timer for when it's due to finish. Then go back to my desk and work on my site and that's what I do for the whole 8 hrs I'm at work. I probably spend about an hour a day in the lab as setting up doesn't take too long.
Let's just hope I don't get caught out one day and get fired!! Huh? Main thing though is I get the work done

Hello! Thank you for introducing yourself so nicely. Just like Dan, I wondered initially how you have time for something else other than your job. Your job seems quite nice though and it's good that you have the time for some of your own projects. Smiley Best of luck with your hosting venture and hopefully it will work out good for you.

Anyway, it's good to have you with us. Smiley

You can still view your own email link, but other members can't see it if you set it to "hide". You can view the email address of members who have not set the "hide" option. I just tested this myself using a regular account (as admin, I can see everyone's email address regardless of their settings).

Yeah, I guessed that was the reason. Besides, on  forum there's always the PM, so email can be largely left aside. Your request gave me the idea to remove the Members List from the main page of the forum. You never know what kind of member signs up, collecting emails and such. So thank you for that!  Afro
