Hello shanee86,

I'm sorry you had such trouble getting the account activated.

Was this the first time you signed up or the second time? Or both maybe? I'd like to try and determine if there was a problem on this end.

That sounds very interesting. It not the kind of thing that anybody can tackle with virtually the same ease. You must possess some talent and skill for this.

Hello Shanee86 and welcome to the forums!

The closer I got to those helicopters was when I watched TV. Smiley They seem kind of cool, but in the one commercial I happened to see, the battery for the helicopter lasted ONLY 5 MINUTES!!! I found that to be so short. You can barely get started and you are done. Smiley It was a helicopter that can go up/down, left/right, forward/backwards. It looked kind of cool, but as I said, I found the battery thing to be a turn off. Anyway, I don't know what type of helicopter/airplane you played with, maybe yours were better.

Once again, welcome and enjoy the forums!

Yea old heli's might have only lasted 5 min's. But a good heli these days that is electric can last 30 mins but like 5-10 full throttle or full power. But I first started with electric heli's and then I got my first gas heli not to long ago. It can run for probably 30 mins or more then you have to refuel. But ifyou have alot of feul you can fly all day. Plus there are alot bigger so fly more steady so easier.  On of the hardest heli's is a little electric on I have one and it is alot harder then my gas one. But like I said I also fly airplanes started with them but always wanted to try heli's and now I have. Now there is alot more heli flying to go for me lol now. But about the signup thing I signed up using a few emails and didn't get my activation email then I tryed my yahoo email with another username and it worked. I am also now soon to take IT classes so I can learn more  Smiley.  I could let you see my rc site but I don't want to spam. So I wont post a link but it is shane's like my name then rc no spaces or '. But anyway nice to be around and if that above is considered spam remove it I hate spam to.

That's no spam. It's just your hobby related website. The store area isn't even active. Since I had a bit of trouble deciphering the URL, here it is for anyone interested: www.shanesrc.com. You've got some nice pictures there. Smiley

BTW, I wonder, what's the range of the prices of these helis?

Regarding your username, I can change it to shanee86 if you want me to. Since it's what you're used to using, it would probably feel more like "you". Just let me know. Smiley

Yes I would like it if I could use shanee86. Also about the heli's the big one that takes nitro cost about $1000 to get up and running that is radio heli etc. My heli was $200 then you have to get motor gyro radio etc. But little electric ones you can get have radio and all ready to fly for about $200 but the smaller they are the harder they are to fly. My little single blade heli is much harder to fly then my big single blade heli. I have a double axis or 4 blade heli and it is very easy to fly. Also little ones you can't fly outside in much if any wind. But I fly airplanes and you can usually put them together cheaper probably like $500 for a nice one. This hobby is costly but very fun. Anyway thanks and let me know if you change my username.

Done. You should have a profile change email in your email inbox now, containing a new password. You can change it to whatever you want via the profile link: http://whrforums.com/smf/index.php?action=profile Smiley

I imagine the costs can mount, especially if you have a real passion for this. It's interesting that the entry level ones are harder to control. It can put off some wannabe enthusiasts who are just trying to get a taste of things at a low cost.

Are the maintenance and fuel costly as well?

Yes fuel is pretty costly like $26 a gallon for nitro. But the bigger gas ones are alot cheaper on gas because gas is like maybe $3 a gallon. But they have little heli's that are easy to fly. Like my four blade one they have 2 sets of blades they spin different ways making it very very stable for it's size. Pretty much as stable or more stable then big ones. But then the single blade ones that are small are harder then big single blade ones. Also by single blades I mean single set of blades so two blade but one set. Anyway yes I got the email haven't change it yet.

Wow!  Shocked That's a huge price to pay for fuel. I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable paying that amount.  Undecided

After a bit of thought, I assumed that was the case, but I was a bit confused initially. Smiley

I don't know it anymore anyway, since it was randomly generated. You could also add a signature. It instantly tell a few things about you, as you may link to your site/business. Just make sure you follow the signature formatting rules: http://whrforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,4.0.html

Yes fuel cost's a bit but really you don't use that much of it like you do in a real car etc. A gallon can last me a week maybe one full day of flying if I fly all day long for like 12 hours but I don't do that much if any.
