In this continuous and vigurous fight against pollution, with so many organizations that fight for mantaining a clean environment and save plants and animals, I can't help but stop and wonder how come in the US when you want to recycle paper you don't get money for the paper returned, but you have to pay in order to do that. I find it to be quite strange. Are there other countries that do that too? Are there some that collect paper and give something to those that bother to save it?

I know a family here in the US that used to save paper and recycle it, but they stopped doing it because it cost them money. They are now saving only newspaper and give it to some highschool that does I'm not sure what with it.

I was tempted to start saving boxes and any other types of paper, but when I found out about this I have been discouraged.

Am I the only one who thinks things should be different?

That practice is purely ridiculous. I know it for fact it is economically feasible to at least accept/collect the recycled materials for free, if not give a small something in exchange for what is being given.

Fact: around here one can receive some toilet paper for free from the toilet paper manufacturing company, in exchange for the paper he's giving them. It's a crappy toilet paper, but those are the standards for toilet paper around here. (yes, pun intended) Grin

Over here, in the UK, the councils give out large blue bags and once a week / two a van comes around and picks it all up from outside your house. Same for grass and glass.

That's very nice and smart. I'm a bit suprised they collect grass though. I've never thought that it could be used in a meaningful way, but I guess it can. Smiley

Recycling should be encouraged. It helps to protect the environment and help save energy.

People should be making more of an effort in going green to prevent global warming and deforestation.
