Well, I am at that point in my life when having children is definitely an option. To be honest with you, I'm in no hurry to have one right now, but I am wondering, when do you think it's the right time to have a child, and, equally more important, why?

PS. Before you ask, no, "nine months after conception" doesn't count as an answer. Smiley

Interesting topic... Tongue

To answer your questions:

1) When is the right time to have a kid - when the wife decides that your life becomes hell unless you give in to that idea Smiley or when you are financially ready and not over 35.
2) Why - see first part from question one Smiley To be serious now, I don't exactly know that answer myself... why do we want kids?... I guess because "it is time" to have one and because you can't postpone it forever. I am sure that I will love my kid when that time comes but I don't know if I am going to reach a stage when I am going to say I MUST HAVE A CHILD NOW!!! I am not saying this to offend anyone, but I think that part is the women's role and they are the ones that kind of decide when "it is time".

You didn't quite say, what do you think?

I don't have a well defined answer, hence the question. Smiley This indecisiveness, I suspect, is a result of me not being (or feeling) ready for the responsibility.

I don't think there is any "Right Time". I know people say they are ready to have a child, but the truth is, no one is EVER "Ready" to have child. I myself have a 7 yr old son. I thought I was ready when he was born and then I found that I was no where near ready! My son was born when I was 24. I thought it was a good age, and I guess it was, but I should have waited a little while.

Having kids is the best thing that ever happened to me. You never know true LOVE until you look into your sons eyes for the first time. And then when they get old enough to talk and they say "Daddy I love you" for the first time, it is the BEST feeling in this world!  Afro

Thanks for sharing, you made it in a very nice way.

That is indeed the special thing about kids, the way they can touch the parents in a very deep way. Just like Dan, I haven't experienced the "look into my sons eyes for the first time", but I saw my brother-in-law about a month ago doing it and his face said it all. Smiley

Really that is up to the individual. I would say a good time would be when you have a steady job and a room for the baby. In reality, you will never feel as though you can take on the additional expense but you always find ways to do it. Wink
