I often find google adz in the form of links etc at web sites of hosting companies. Often wonder if they earn more from hosting or google.

I don't know, i guess it would depend on the host. It's generally the small, new host with few or no customers that places ads on its site.

It's bad business if they're using google ads, because they would be likely sending visitors to their own competitors.

Google puts ads automatically so that they fit the page's content. You can ban a certain domain (or more), but if Google determines that your pages is about hosting, it'll continue to put hosting ads as they become available.

This is an interesting question. For forums and things the google ads make sense but web hosts doing it doesnt sound very professional. But there are many hosts out there just trying to make a quick buck instead of trying to make the customer happy and let them grow your business.

I think its bad idea to place ads on your hosting service providing websites, there must be no ads, while if you still want then you can place them in the subpages not on main page, that way you can have some money, from ads as well from hosting,

I can see a point in selling ad space on a business/hosting site, only if the ads are well chosen, preferably manually. If you sell hosting, you may be able to get some website designers or SEO companies to advertise on your site. Still, this is probably best done by customizing the control panel, and putting the ads there unobtrusively. Something that looks more like a value added service than a simple ad.

But Google Adsense almost never makes sense when you sell your own stuff on a site.

Selling advertising space on a corporate website is bad. It is just pushing your visitors to competitors as google uses the information on the page to display appropriate ads.
