Yahoo offers “unlimited” space and bandwidth etc…but after about 20gb you get a “disk space error; please contact yahoo customer support” message on the ftp client. Then you contact Yahoo and their tech support says that they will increase your allotted disk space (it should be unlimited; however they flag anyone going above a certain level of usage), but nothing ever gets done. I think there is an unspoken policy at yahoo to just simply ignore anyone that goes above their unofficial limits. In summary, don’t trust Yahoo’s unlimited disk space marketing rubbish.

Hmm... the use of some soft limits is not unheard of, though not increasing your allocation even though they promised, is clearly unacceptable.

As for unlimited, you'd better never read that as "infinite". There will always be some sort of catch at some point. But it doesn't mean you can't get a great deal out of the whole thing. 20GB of space at under $20, is still pretty good. Smiley

The unlimited hosting is a marketing gimmick really. If i was to load a bunch of movies, or MP3's onto a website, I would probably get kicked off for too much space/bandwidth usage.

There is almost always a ceiling, most web hosting clients never hit it though, and that is what web hosting companies bank on.

how can there be an UN-Limited space / hard disk. I am not sure what  Freddy would have understood while signing up for this account. There isn't a hard disk which does not have space limit. If we have tetra bites of data, what we think yahoo or any host do.
I wonder if people start asking these question at the time of sing up.
There is a huge phycho-fooling by web hosts going on wherein despite knowing one does not want to know that there cannot be unlimited hosting.
