Distance can influence how fast data travels. But I don't see how uptime can be affected, unless the location you're speaking about is in some region ravaged by civil war or something.

It influences speed, but not uptime really. You should always host your websites close to your target audience when possible though.

I have seen where some networks were slower than others. Savvis is one that has been notorious for such problems. |

Server location will absolutely have some effect on speed. Are certain geo-locations of servers more prone to downtime than others? Could be, but I've never seen any stats to support that. |

Quality hosts usually work good for any client from anywhere. Sure, there will be speed difference but I suppose it want be visible for you or your audience.

Bad host can have slow speed even to a very next building.

Location is definitely important, but what is even more important is the network that a web hosting provider or a data center operates. Let's say that your company is in Kansas or anywhere in Middle U.S. Having connected to 2 or 3 providers of quality bandwidth like Level 3, Quest, Internap, etc will give you a great visibility in both Americas and even world wide. However if you target the Asian market, you'd better get NTT or any other carrier which has a good connectivity in Asia. For Europe you'd use Level3, Tiscali, Interoute and many other.

I think its affect id very low.. but it do have affect, I also suggest to buy a near one, it will help you to speed up your website. But quality hosting servers have very rare affect on such things.

Yes, if your servers and Data Center of the company are close to each other, speed connectivity will be very fast and you will be pleased.
