I've been trying to find a registrar that accepts money order but only one that does is a reseller. the fee seems to be pretty good but can someone tell me why I shouldn't go with a reseller? btw, I've never registered before so any advice on what to look for in their service?
thanks!

Back a few years ago I bought hosting and registering domains with a local company, and I was paying with money orders. The thing that I did miss was an admin panel so that I could change nameservers easily. As it was, I had to send them an email and they would do those modifications I needed for me. They did them pretty fast, I must agree, but that wasn't the most convenient or empowering approach, so as soon as I could pay with a card, I moved my domain from them.
A domain registering service is otherwise a pretty simple, straightforward, automated process. Customer service would rarely be needed, but it might be at times, so, if possible, you should look for customer reports.
Most companies out there that offer domain registering services are resellers of a couple of big accredited registrars. There's nothing wrong with it. If you can find out who it is that the particular provider resells for, you could and probably should do some research on that company as well.
Good luck!

another question: will the reseller be the owner of the domain? I was contacted by a company who offered to register for me so does that mean they will own the domain?
thanks!

You will have to clear that up with that company. Usually you are listed as the owner of the domain, unless you get the domain for free (included with a hosting package). More important that being listed as the owner is to be the admin of the domain, since it is the admin who can transfer the domain.

The reseller have to get there domain from a registered ICANN company, you shouldnt have any problems registering from a reseller. As most of the time you might get better support and prices. And If anything went wrong just talk to the parent company, they usually have access to your account.

There is no denying the fact that it will be more secure to register domain names via Accredited company, but if the domain name reseller is reliable and has the abundance of good feedbacks, I think that you can trust it.

Most reseller provide some value-added service. In this case it receive money order which is valued and no one else is providing.
If the reseller is doing a honest business of providing a wanted service, I don't see why not.

Well, Namecheap, which you seem to recommend in another post, was an Enom reseller for a very long time, and they still had a very good reputation. And there are quite a few ICANN accredited registrars that have bad reputation.

Name cheap is good enough to be used in terms of domain registration.
